Electrical Regulations

IMPORTANT NOTICE - WORK INVOLVING ELECTRICIANS
Following the recent changes in legislation, it is important that we clarify the position of work J Durrance engineers are able to undertake and those which, legally, we are unable to complete in regard to the supply and installation of electrically operated physical security products.

SUPPLY OF MACHINERY(SAFETY) REGULATIONS 1995
Under the recently implemented legislation, Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 1995, J Durrance & Co are required, as the supply and installation contractor, to commission a product and provide its CE marking and declaration of conformity.

If you have an in-house qualified electrician, they will be required to connect the installation to your mains power. However, they will not be able to test and commission the installed product. This must be completed by a J Durrance engineer, who will complete the installation and its commissioning to make the product ‘legal’.

BREAKDOWNS - ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS
It is now a legal requirement for all electrical work to be undertaken by a qualified electrician.

Under our National 24 Hour Response Service, we will continue to provide our outstanding level of service for repairs and maintenance, striving to maintain our ‘first time fix’ policy.

Therefore, in order to meet this standard, where necessary we are working closely with regional electricians who will provide the support on site to attend to electrical faults to products.

If you have any queries or require advice on electrically operated physical security products contact J Durrance on 0800 018 5387.
